Topklasse Live | Round 12 | As it Happened

 Bertus de Jong  18.42
That’s a wrap from us, VOC still ahead of the pack but VRA and HBS keeping pace. Meanwhile at the bottom of the table Punjab record their second win, and give both Quick and ACC reason to worry. We’ll be back next week of course, do join us then.

The points table after round 12

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  18:40
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 223-3 in 42.3 overs
And done. The skipper finishes it off slapping van Gigch through extra off the back foot for four. Rutgers finishes unbeaten on 86, and a straightforward win in the end.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  18:34
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 215-3 in 41 overs
Or are they? Realistically, yes. But they have O’Dowd’s wicket, puts up a steepler off van Gigch and Mol’s under it. Seelaar makes his way to the crease.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  18:30
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 205-2 in 40 overs
Mol returns for the 40th and O’Dowd drives his first ball back past him for a straight four, dabs the next fine of third man to bring up the 200. Rugtgers uses the width on the next and it’s away square to the rope, runs the next to third man too. Both on 81, neither gonna get to three figures at this rate. Quick all but out of it now.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  18:22
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 188-2 in 38 overs
Insult to injury now for Bista, a little flatter as O’Dowd comes again, doesn’t really get under it and that’s a straightforward catch at long on coming off the rope. Except it bursts through his hands and bounces over the rope. O’Dowd on to 73 now, Rutgers on 72. They can’t both make tons.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  18:16
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 176-2 in 36 overs
Hundred partnership up in the next over, milking van Gigch for singles. Bista isn’t so lucky, O’Dowd puts him dead straight over the rope again, He’s almost caught up with Rutgers now, they’re on 62 and 71 respectively.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  18:10
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 164-2 in 34 overs
O’Dowd down the track to Groenewald and lifts him over his head and the sight screen onto the now-vacated main field. Two overs later and Bista has replaced Groenewald but O’Dowd doesn’t seem to notice the difference, another straight six to bring up his fifty. Partnership now worth 99. Still van Gigch from the other end.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  17:57
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 134-2 in 30 overs
Van der Horst and van Gigch for quick in the middle overs, and O’Dowd and Rutgers content to knock it about for singles and wait on the bad ball. O’Dowd helps one fron van der Horst on it’s way down leg for four, and the game just drifting away from Quick a little here. Still a long way to go though.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  17:45
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 113-2 in 26 overs
It’s all been pretty quiet on the second field I’m told, but once again my arrival seems to inspire some action. Rutgers, who has quietly notched his first fifty of the season, pulls van der Horst into the hands of van Schelven, only to be reprieved by a call of no ball. He duly puts the free hit over the rope at backward square. All happening in the day’s last living game.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  17:35
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
HCC: 123 all out in 38.3 overs
And Vink does it! Huge shout for LBW turned down first ball, but two balls later Lagas chips it back straight and Vink gratefully takes the catch and the game. .

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  17:32
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 123-9 in 38 overs
What a way to get the breakthrough. Phenomenal throw from Gomes (we’re now told) on the boundary, Visee barely has to move his hands after taking it over the stumps and van Kessel is well short. Bijloos last man. 16 for the win, 19 for the tie. Vink to bowl the 29th, Lagas on strike.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  17:27
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 120-8 in 37 overs
Huge shout for LBW on van Kessel as Vink hits him low on the pads, looked dead to rights from here but tough to judge the line from this angle. HBS look incredulous though. Just 19 to get now. De Mey to bowl the 38th

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  17:24
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 84-2 in 20 overs
Rutgers and O’Dowd building a platform meanwhile, the former into the forties

Sparta 1888 vs Punjab Rotterdam  17:22
Sparta: 147 all out in 49.2 overs
 Punjab: 148-0 in 29.4 overs
Myburgh and Raza deliver Punjab their second win, and a convincing one.20 overs to spare and ten wickets in hand. Raza finishes on 59*, Myburgh 85*.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  17:17
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 108-8 in 34 overs
Van Kessel and Lagas standing firm for now, Westdijk and Vink doing their best to dislodge them. 31 still needed and 16 to get them, HBS will need a wicket at some point. Just one slip in for Vink though and eight men in front of the bat.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  17:00
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 63-1 in 14 overs
Wicket on the other side too as van Baren goes after a wider bacll from Bista that comes to rest in Vierling’s gloves. Did h get an edge on it? Quick think so. So does the umpire. O’Dowd in.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  16:59
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 104-8 in 31 overs
Maybe just went to his head though, Wlhain tries to repeat the shot when they finally find the ball back, and holes out on the midwicket boundary. Lagas in. Advantage HBS.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  16:53
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 104-7 in 30.1 overs
Walhain and Van Kessel have kept HCC in this, and now as Wlhain heaves Khan deep back into the stand over midwicket the pressure is suddenly on the visitors again.

Sparta 1888 vs Punjab Rotterdam  16:48
Sparta: 147 all out in 49.2 overs
 Punjab: 115-0 in 23 overs
Punjab cruising this, Myburgh driving the pace on 73*, Raza with him on 38*

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  16:45
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 51-1 in 10 overs
Rutgers brings up the fifty carving Groenewald over point for four, meanwhile Khan limps off the field clutching his hamstring, Davey on as sub fielder.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  16:33
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 90-7 in 27.1 overs
Vink into the attack and that’s a wicket first ball, Ahmed nicks off, Visee takes. Van Kessel in.

Sparta 1888 vs Punjab Rotterdam  16:29
Sparta: 147 all out in 49.2 overs
 Punjab: 86-0 in 20 overs
Meanwhile Punjab look to be making short work of this chase, over half-way there already, and fifty for Myburgh.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  16:27
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 38-1 in 7 overs
Rutgers pulls Khan away square and over the rope for six, but doesn’t look like he enjoyed it much, clearly in some discomfort. Khan comes back in his next though to break the opening partnership, holding a return catch off Schoonheim. Van Baren in.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  16:13
ACC: 112 all out in 43 overs
 VRA 113-2 in 25.0 overs
The most comfortable of victories for VRA, then, who never took their foot off the gas after getting ACC 6 for two in the first ten minutes of the game. Their bowlers hustled and harried, and then Szwarczynski and Ter Braak gave their side its best start of the season with an opening stand of 109, both making half-centuries in the process. Szwarczynski may not yet be back to his best, but he’s definitely back, much to the delight of his teammates. For ACC, there will be an anxious eye on events in Capelle, and possibly Den Haag.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  16:12
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
 VOC: 12-0 in 2 overs
Schoonheim and the Rutgers for VOC, the latter battling through with a finger containing more fractures than bones.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  16:08
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 81-6 in 23 overs
And Gorlee goes not long after, clean bowled and that’s Farshad Khan’s third wicket. Walhain in.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  16:03
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 77-5 in 22 overs
A fine fightback from Gorlee and Overdijk is brought to an end as de Mey finds Overdijk’s edge and Lagas has another dismissal. Ahmed in.

Sparta 1888 vs Punjab Rotterdam  16:00
Sparta: 147 all out in ? overs
 Punjab: 53-0 in 13 overs
Fifty up for Punjab in the meantime, Myburgh and Raza presumably together and it seems nobody told them this was a tough batting track.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam 15:57
ACC: 112 all out in 43 overs
VRA 113-2 in 25.0 overs
Szwarczynski brings up his half-century with a single off Botha and levels the scores, as his team-mates celebrate the end of his drought. Then Borren is given leg-before, and with Dasgupta the new man a wide bouncer from Kumar to Szwarczynski brings the end. It seems, incidentally, that ter Braak was given caught behind off the glove, rather than LBW.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  15:38
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 51-4 in 16 overs
Ninan hanging the bat out rather, Khan finds his inside edge and into the pads, and he’s given out LBW. Interesting call. Admittedly a poor shot but not sure we should be giving people out on style.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  15:47
ACC: 112 all out in 43 overs
 VRA 109-1 in 23.4 overs
With VRA seemingly on the brink of victory, Kumar returns and traps Ter Braak in front for a splendid 52. Borren joins Szwarczynski, who is on 48.

Excelsior ’20 vs Dosti United  15:45
Excelsior: 81 all out in 24 overs
 Dosti: 82-4 in 22.1 overs
And it’s all over at Thurlede, Davids and Kohli see them comfortably home.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  15:38
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 51-4 in 16 overs
Ninan hanging the bat out rather, Khan finds his inside edge and into the pads, and he’s given out LBW. Interesting call. Admittedly a poor shot but not sure we should be giving people out on style.

Excelsior ’20 vs Dosti United  15:34
Excelsior: 81 all out in 24 overs
 Dosti: 74-4 in 20 overs
They’ve been away for Lunch at Thurlede and Dosti still had a short but nervy chase to complete at the break. But the two Dosti pros, Kohli and Davids, are together for the 5th wicket now though and look fairly set, and have taken them to within 6 runs of the win.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  15:25
ACC: 112 all out in 43 overs
 VRA 69-0 in 18 overs
VRA reach the drinks interval without losing a wicket, Szwarczynski on 23 and Ter Braak on 38. Saqib is shuffling his bowlers, brother Rehmat replacing Kumar and first Wajdan Alim and then Raza for Botha from the Uilenstede End. There’s the off false stroke, but generally batting is looking a lot easier than it was earlier.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  15:23
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 48-3 in 14 overs
It’s been quiet on the main field in the meantime, but as soon as I sit back down Street slashes Khan into the hands of Morgan at backward point. Gorlee in to join Ninan.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  15:21
 Quick: 222-5 in 50 overs
Groenewald nicks off on the first ball of the 50th, but Ekelmans manages to get off strike squeezing it through point. Just a swept single from Bista from the third, and desperate to get the strike back he tries to run one to the keeper on the next, but Edwards hits and he’s gone for 124. Quite a knock that. Van Schelven in, good running to get three from the last two balls. 222 the total.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  15:16
 Quick: 217-4 in 49 overs
Steepling top edge off Fletcher’s first ball is the first chance Bista has given, but Fletcher can’t get back fast enough to take it as it drops over his shoulder. He gets one driven back hard at him two balls later but Bista survives again as it’s palmed up, fair to say he’s earned his luck though. Good over in the end nonetheless, just 4 from it. Schoonheim to bowl the last.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  15:16
ACC: 112 all out in 43 overs
 VRA 50-0 in 12 overs
Ter Braak has played a series of aggressive shots and moved rapidly on to 26, taking the pressure off Szwarczynski, who is fighting his way out of his personal doldrums. But he has also played one or two strokes which are vintage Szwarczynski, the best of them a square drive which zooms across the grass to the point boundary.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  15:10
 Quick: 213-4 in 48 overs
Bista brings up his ton and then celebrates by putting Bobby Hanif into the road first ball of the next over, and calls for a drink. Suitably refreshed, the next ball is over deep square leg and into someone’s garden. 200 up and then nearly runs himself out on the third. The fourth is a full toss and up and over backward square for six more. Cut away square for a single, and twq off the next to keep strike. Don’t imagine he would have taken a single if that’s all there was. 23 off the over. Fletcher to bowl the 49th.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  15:06
ACC: 112 all out in 43 overs
 VRA 50-0 in 12 overs
Ter Braak has played a series of aggressive shots and moved rapidly on to 26, taking the pressure off Szwarczynski, who is fighting his way out of his personal doldrums. But he has also played one or two strokes which are vintage Szwarczynski, the best of them a square drive which zooms across the grass to the point boundary.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  15:03
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 37-2 in 9 overs
Vink into the attack replacing Westdijk and opens with a maiden on Street. Circumspection the order of the day from this pair.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  14:59
 Quick: 185-4 in 46 overs
VOC have done well to keep things contained here, Schoonheim and Seelaar operating in tandem. Bista is edging toward a century but the rate has dropped off appreciably since Mol was dismissed.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  14:48
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 27-2 in 6 overs
And Staal out. Two for Coster as Staal comes across his stumps and looks to glance fine, misses and loses his leg stump. Street in.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  14:35
ACC: 112 all out in 43 overs
 VRA 22-0 in 5 overs
Kumar and Botha steady the ship a little, but then ter Braak starts coming down the wicket to Kumar, cracking him through extra cover for four and then pulling the next over midwicket for another.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  14:35
 Quick: 157-4 in 40 overs
And a wicket on the other side too, Klaassen has Vierling LBW, Groenewald joins Bista who’s on 83.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  14:35
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
 HCC: 14-1 in 3.1 overs
New opening combo for HCC, Jonkman and Ninan opening, Westdijk and Coster with the new ball. a streaky start with a couple of loose and lofted shots just evading the fielders, but HBS will need a bit of luck to defend this. Or a great ball and a good take behind the sticks, Coster nicks off Jonkman. Staal in.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  14:22
ACC: 112 all out in 43 overs
 VRA 8-0 in 1 over
Aryan Kumar starts from the River End to Eric Szwarczynski, who turns his first ball to fine leg for a single. This brings Daan ter Braak on strike, and he drives through extra cover for four and swings him behind square for two. Add a wide, and it’s a great start for VRA. Dewald Botha from the Uilenstede End.

Sparta 1888 vs Punjab Rotterdam  14:22
Sparta: 147 all out in ? overs
Sparta won’t be passing 150 today either we hear.

Excelsior ’20 vs Dosti United  14:18
Excelsior: 81 all out in 24 overs
 Dosti: 29-3 in 10 overs
Dosti stumbling out of the blocks at Thurlede, Tewarie caught behind off Bhatti and Rahil Ahmed caught on the next ball. Vimal Tewarie joins Kohli.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  14:14
 Quick: 144-3 in 35 overs
Seelaar takes over from Klaassen and there’s the breakthrough, Mol well down the track, plays around it and just keeps jogging as Edwards takes the bails off behind him. Vierling joins Bista, who’s still there on 78.

Excelsior ’20 vs Dosti United  14:08
Excelsior: 81 all out in 24 overs
 Dosti: 28-1 in 9 overs
They’re back underway at Thurlede meanwhile, and Heggleman has Gohri caught behind early. Tewarie and Kohli at the crease.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  14:04
 Quick: 125-2 in 32 overs
Short and wide from Jelte Schoonheim and Mol uppercuts that over backward point for four and fifty. VOC need a breakthrough here or their good work at the top of the innings will come rapidly undone. Klaassen back.

Sparta 1888 vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:52
 Sparta: 115-7 in 42 overs
Pollard has reached a defiant fifty we hear, dragging Sparta past the hundred mark in the process. Just 8 overs left so won’t be looking at a big score, but at Bermweg you rarely need one.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  13:50
 Quick: 103-2 in 29 overs
Fifty for Bista in the meantime, and 100 up for Quick. This partnership starting to look ominous. It took Quick almost 20 overs to reach fifty, they’ve taken less than half that to get from there to three figures.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  13:41
HBS: 138 all out in 37.3 overs
Overdijk wraps things up, third wicket for him, third catch for Gorlee. HBS finish on 138 all out.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  13:39
ACC: 112 all out in 43 overs
It all ends very quickly: Botha is caught by Szwarczynski for a duck in Turmaine’s next over, Wajdan Alim takes a single, and then Kumar, lunging forward, is stumped by Lees. Turmaine finishes with three for 16, and ACC finish with 112.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  13:37
 HBS: 138-9 in 37.1 overs
Overdijk through de Mey and into middle and off stump. Westdijk in. Still no sign of the ball on the other side. And another down! Never run on a misfield they say, and that’s why. The point fielder half-stops and loses the ball but recovers quickly as they look for the second, throw’s not great but top work from Lagas who no-look back-hands it into the stumps. Vink well short, Khan last man.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  13:32
 ACC: 111-8 in 42 overs
And a wicket for Mr Drinks as Zaidi tries to hit Turmaine back over his head and Raja runs across from mid-on to take the catch. Kumar joins Raza. Who then goes, taking on Van den Burg’s arm from the extra cover boundary as he tries for a third and fails to make it. Botha in now.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  13:29
 Quick: 72-2 in 24.2 overs
Van Baren into the attack over on the other side, Bista on one knee and sweeps him for four all along the swift artificial outfield, and then slogs sweeps for a big six over square leg next ball. Not sure they’ll be finding that back in a hurry.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  13:22
 ACC: 104-6 in 40 overs
Borren and Turmaine have fairly raced through the overs here, reaching 40 by the second drinks interval. And just 17 runs off the last ten overs as the bowlers turn the screw. Gunning now back for Borren, maintaining the pressure.

Excelsior ’20 vs Dosti United  13:20
Excelsior: 81 all out in 24 overs
Davids mops up the tail. Excelsior fail to reach triple figures again.

Sparta 1888 vs Punjab Rotterdam  13:15
 Sparta: 85-7 in ? overs
Reports trickling in from Bermweg but nothing encouraging for the hosts, they’ve lost another 2 wickets, Pollard desperately trying to hold things together. They’re 85-7 after presumably about 30-something overs.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  13:08
 HBS: 129-7 in 31 overs
Vink pulls Jonkman hard over the square rope and is nonchalantly caught one-handed by an as yet unidentified team mate.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  13:08
 Quick: 51-2 in 19 overs
Bista batting beautifully here, goes inside out to lift Seelaar over the covers just before drinks. He’s on 30 now.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  13:08
 ACC: 97-6 in 35 overs
The two left-handers, Raza and Zaidi, gradually work their way towards the hundred mark against Borren and Turmaine. Three men in close catching positions continue to lurk, but they’re batting pretty sensibly at the moment.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  13:05
 HBS: 123-7 in 30 overs
And another for Jonkman here too, Singh trapped in front for 5. De Mey joins Vink.

Excelsior ’20 vs Dosti United  12:59
 Excelsior: 70-7 in 26 overs
Two more fore Kohli, wickets keep tumbling at Thurlede. Heggelman goes clean bowled for 18 – the top score of the innings so far – and Niels Etman for a duck caught behind. Gijs Kroesen joins Symons.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  12:58
 Quick: 29-2 in 15 overs
First bowling change on the second field, Pieter Seelaar brings himself on. Tidy stuff, just one from it. Double change in fact, Bobby Hanif now at the other end.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  12:54
 ACC: 82-6 in 28 overs
Borren back, and Rehmat’s long vigil ends as he edges a catch to keeper Mitch Lees. He goes for 31. Ammar Zaidi in.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  12:52
 HBS: 115-6 in 27 overs
And that’s the big wicket! Jonkman into the attack and another first-over wicket, Morgan takes on a wide short ball but only picks out Gorlee on the cover boudary, whose second catch of the match is a good deal easier than the first. Vink in and Jonkman completes a wicket-maiden.

Excelsior ’20 vs Dosti United  12:46
 Excelsior: 67-5 in 24 overs
Kohli and Ahmed combine again as Shankar is caught behind, Symons in to join Heggelman for a rearguard action.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  12:46
 HBS: 105-5 in 24 overs
Ahmed takes over from street and does for his namesake, chipped up to mid on and Ninan holds it. Navjit Singh in to join Morgan.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  12:44
 ACC: 80-5 in 26 overs
No more alarums at Het Loopveld for the time being, as Rehmat Zulfiqar and Raza try to get their side up to a half-reasonable total. Mia has come back in place of Gunning and is bowling with real pace and hostility, while Leon Turmaine replaces Raja at the River End. Zulfiqar has made his way to 31, from 71 deliveries.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  12:41
 Quick: 23-2 in 10 overs
Mol and Bista have dug in here after the early wickets, but Fletcher and are keeping it tight, five maidens all told and Klaassen’s given away just three runs. At least they were keeping it tight, Fletcher misses his length and Bista puts him high back over his head into the trees. That would have landed about mid-on in the other match if it had been hit from the other end.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  12:36
 HBS: 105-4 in 24 overs
But a breakthrough in his next! Barresi looks to lift him over the diminutive Ali Ahmed at mid off, but he times his leap perfectly, good air, great hang time and plucks it out of the sky. Adeel Ahmed in to join Morgan, who’s still there on 39.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  12:24
 HBS: 97-3 in 22 overs
Bijloos into the attack and starts with as no ball, Morgan tries to heave the free hit over cow but it skids on into the base of middle. Street still from the other end but not a great time to be bowling with Morgan now set, and is duly dispatched over long on into the hedge.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam 12:21
ACC: 63-5 in 19.3 overs
Gunning returns from the Uilenstede End, and he’s too quick for Zulfiqar senior, smashing through his defences and demolishing the stumps. Anis Raza in to join Rehmat Zulfiqar, still there and holding firm amidst the chaos.

Excelsior ’20 vs Dosti United  12:22
 Excelsior: 43-4 in 17 overs
Hans holds a return catch to send Kroesen on his way, Shankar joins Heggelman and the defending champions are in all sorts of trouble again.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  12:14
 ACC: 62-4 in 18.2 overs
Finally looking at home at this level after a long and sometimes painful apprenticeship, Rasool pulls Borren for another six, racing to 23 at almost a run a ball. But then he chops on to Raja and departs. Ahmed Zulfiqar come in to join his son Rehmat, who has made his cautious way to 17. And they take a drink.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  11:16
 HBS: 82-3 in 19 overs
Barresi and Morgan keeping things ticking over on the main field meanwhile, 82-3 at drinks.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  12:15
 Quick: 7-1 in 3 overs
And another for Klaassen, carbon copy rearing up and taking the outside edge through to Edwards. Mol in for Landheer.

Excelsior ’20 vs Dosti United  12:07
 Excelsior: 35-3 in 14 overs
Excelsior three down in the meantime as Kohli nicks off Verhagen, Heggelman in and Dosti on top.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  12:06
 ACC: 55-3 in 17 overs
Rasool takes a liking to Borren’s medium pace, driving him through cover point to get off the mark with a boundary and then, in his next over pulling him behind square for six and four. Raja keeps things quieter from the River End.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  12:05
 Quick: 0-1 in 1 over
And we’re off on the other side, Klaassen opening the bowling for VOC. Hostile first over, maiden, and a wicket in there for good measure. Van Gigch caught behind off the third ball. Landheer joins Bista. Fletcher from the other end.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  11:59
 ACC: 37-3 in 13 overs
A double bowling change, with Borren on for Mia from the Uilenstede End, and Adeel Raja replacing Gunning. And it produces immediate results, as Asad Zulfiqar sweeps, gets a top edge, and Dasgupta at fine leg runs back to take a superb one-handed diving catch. Shirase Rasool joins Rehmat Zulfiqar.

Sparta 1888 vs Punjab Rotterdam  11:55
 Sparta: 30-5 in 10 overs
Wheels flying off in all directions for Sparta and another sub-50 score at Bermweg entirely on the cards.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  11:54
 HBS: 58-3 in 14 overs
And Street stikes in his first too, thick outside edge flies hard and low to the right of second slip, where Gorlee takes a phenomenal diving catch millimeters from the ground. Great take. Gomes gone. Barresi in.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  11:48
 HBS: 53-2 in 12 overs
After a period of comparative calm Morgan brings up the fifty for HBS scything Overdijk over point for a one-bouncer. Bryce Street takes over from Ahmed.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  11:43
 ACC: 33-2 in 10 overs
Gradually, the brothers Zulfiqar are gaining confidence, Asad clipping Gunning off his toes to the midwicket boundary. Both batsmen have been slicing Mia down through the gully, so Van den Burg strengthens his field behind square, with first and third slips, a gully, and a point. So Rehmat goes square, cutting just in front of point and then driving past cover for two lovely fours.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  11:40
Meanwhile behind me here Quick have won the toss and will bat first.

Excelsior ’20 vs Dosti United  11:35
 Excelsior: 13-2 in 5 overs
Two down all over this morning. Exclesior lose first Tim Etman for nine and then, crucially, Lorenzo Ingram for a duck, Davids and Masood responsible for the wickets. Kroesen and Verhagen in.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  11:28
 HBS: 36-2 in 7.1 overs
Overdijk into the attack and rapid reward, nicks off Coster with his sixth ball. Gomes in. And Visée gone next ball! two in two for HCC as Ali Ahmed uproots middle stump. Morgan in.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  11:25
 ACC: 12-2 in 5 overs
Rehmat and Zulfiqar set about a rebuilding project, picking up runs where they can. But Rehmat is fortunate off the final ball of Gunning’s third over, his edge not quite carrying to Borren at slip.

Sparta 1888 vs Punjab Rotterdam  11:21
 Sparta: 10-2 in 3 overs
Scratch that, Punjab in fact won the toss, and they’ve made good use of it. Ambrose and Bell gone already.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  11:16
 ACC: 6-2 in 1.2 overs
Haseeb Gul Mia opens from the Uilenstede End to Frenz, who cracks his first ball through the covers for four. He doesn’t play a shot to the second, which jags back and removes his off stump. Asad Zulfiqar joins brother Rehmat, a silent witness to these dramas from the other end.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  11:15
 HBS: 30-0 in 3 overs
Visée doing Visée things here. Cuts Ahmed viciously square to beat the diving point fielder, then steps down to heave him over the sight screen. A brief ball hunting expedition, then the next ball is pulled away behind square leg. Gives himself room for the next, inside out over extra. A straight drive on the last ball is well stopped by the bowler.

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  11:07
 ACC: 2-1 in 0.4 overs
We’re under way at Het Loopveld. Quirijn Gunning starts from the River End to Saqib Zulfiqar, who opens with elder brother Rehmat. His direction-finder is on the fritz initially, a couple of wides resulting, but then Saqib goes after a shorter, straighter delivery and skies it to Leon Turmaine at midwicket. Frenz in early anyway.

Sparta 1888 vs Punjab Rotterdam  11:07
And some belated news from Bermweg, where Sparta have won the toss and elected to bat.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  11:05
 HBS : 5-0 in 1 over
Visee and Coster opening for HBS, who are indeed batting first but we are now told that this was entirely their own decision. And HCC starting with spin, Ninan with the new ball. Strays down leg and beats the keeper for two wides on the second ball then overcompensates for another. Coster finds a single with a flick to leg for the first runs off the bat, and Visee off the mark too. Ahmed from the other end.

Excelsior ’20 vs Dosti United  10:40
And Excelsior win the toss at Thurlede and will bat first too..

ACC Amsterdam vs VRA Amsterdam  10:37
The hosts have won the toss at het Loopveld too, but ACC prefer to bat first.

Quick Haag vs VOC Rotterdam  10:35
Over on the other field meanwhile we’re going to be in for a wait, Quick-VOC will be starting an hour later today we hear.

 HCC vs HBS Craeyenhout  10:35
Here at de Diepput we have the first of the toss results, HCC have won the toss and invited HBS to bat first.

And good morning/afternoon/evening from Het Loopveld in Amstelveen, where the teams are warming up for the local derby between ACC and VRA. It’s already very warm indeed, and the conditions are more Australian than Dutch – parts of the outfield are baked brown, browner indeed than you usually see in Australia, where underground watering systems are the norm. Team news here is that both sides are without key players: the injured Sikander Zulfiqar is missing from the ACC line-up, and box-and-coxes with his brother Saqib, while for VRA Ben Cooper is in Australia for brother Tom’s wedding. Viv Kingma is also absent.

 ☀ Weather Update ☀  09.45
It’s still fairly cool here in the Hague but I don’t expect it will stay that way for long, the entirely un-Dutch run of beautiful Summer weather looks set to continue, with clear skies and temperatures in the mid 20s expected across the country today. Nice day to get along to a game if you can.

 Bertus de Jong  09.44
Good morning everyone (or good whatever time it is where you are), welcome back for another Topklasse Sunday. Rod will be bringing you the latest from the Amsterdam derby at het Loopveld today, whilst I’ve been lured out of Amsterdam by the double-header at de Diepput, where HCC welcome HBS and the wandering Quick take on VOC, and of course will be doing my best to keep you up to speed on events elsewhere, specifically Bermweg and Thurlede. This round effectively pits the top half of the table against the bottom, an upset or two might still mix things up but equally today may be the day the Topklasse splits decisively into title contenders and relegation candidates, though it already looks like the title may be more closely contested than the wooden spoon. For details, here’s this week’s preview.
